Poetry Club
A Weekly Writing Studio for Young Poets
In Poetry Club, students meet once a week for twelve weeks and spend their time reading, writing, listening, and revising work in real conversation with other young writers. The focus stays on students who already feel drawn to poetry and want a place where that interest can develop with structure and feedback.
Each session introduces a new direction in poetry. Students encounter a range of styles across modern voices and established poets, then respond with their own writing. Assignments between sessions are designed to be approachable while still asking for originality, so students arrive ready to share something they made rather than something they copied or filled in. The group reads each other’s work with attention to line choice, rhythm, imagery, and intent, then revisions follow based on instructor guidance and peer response.
Over time, students build a personal collection of poems that shows range and development. The goal is a portfolio that reflects experimentation, revision, and a growing sense of voice.
What Students Do Inside the Course
Students write original poems each week in response to prompts and readings. They bring those pieces into group sessions where work is read aloud and discussed in a guided workshop format. They learn how to revise based on feedback. They also spend time reading selected poems from modern and classic poets to see how different writers handle similar ideas in distinct ways.
The group format supports students in learning how to listen to critique, respond to it thoughtfully, and offer feedback that helps other writers improve their work. The emphasis stays on practice, revision, and consistent output across the full twelve weeks.
Who It’s For
Poetry Club is built for students who already show interest in reading or writing poetry and want a consistent place to develop that skill. It fits students who enjoy creative writing, students looking for structured poetry writing workshops for kids, and students who prefer learning through guided practice rather than worksheet-based instruction. It also supports students who may not yet feel confident in their writing but are willing to participate in reading, writing, and revision with others.
Schedule
The course runs for twelve consecutive weeks with one live session each week on Google Meet. Each session lasts between 60 and 90 minutes depending on group size and discussion flow. Weekly reading and writing assignments are provided in advance so students arrive with completed work ready for workshop discussion.
Group size is kept intentionally limited so that every student has time to share and receive feedback across the full course.
Pricing
Poetry Club Twelve Week Session
$49.00 total per student
This includes all twelve live group sessions and weekly writing prompts. The pricing reflects an accessible entry point for families seeking structured poetry instruction, bringing the cost to a little over four dollars per session while maintaining small-group instruction and consistent feedback from the instructor and their fellow students.
Refund and Attendance Policy
Enrollment is final once a seat is reserved, since group size is limited and each participant is part of the weekly structure. Missed sessions are not refunded and cannot be rescheduled. Students who miss a meeting will still receive access to any writing prompts or materials shared that week so they can stay aligned with the course flow.
